Laugharne 72 St Clears 10
The day started badly for the visitors with two late withdrawals, Steff Lewis and Mat Lewis unavailable and rapidly got worse with influential Rob Phillips injured within ten minutes and his equally influential replacement Aled Mason, making his first appearance of the season, badly injured with a head injury ten minutes later, both players being carted off to hospital for emergency treatment, the Laugharne hoodoo striking again!
Whilst this was all going on the game itself was following the usual competitive, bruising encounter expected in this highly charged local derby, the only scores being one penalty apiece from Tom Jameson for the home side and Luke Conbeer for the visitors with half an hour completed.
Within fifteen minutes however the whole shape of the game was changed thanks to two penalty tries from the overzealous official, both of which were converted from under the posts and two unconverted tries from centre Mikey Williams and flanker Barry John to virtually kill the game off at 27 points to 3 at half time.
To their credit Saints did not roll over and took the game to Laugharne. Following a hotly disputed disallowed try from standoff Shane Morgan, centre Ceri Jones touched down under the posts and Luke Conbeer added the extras to produce a scoreline of 27 points to 10, a fair reflection of the game balance at that stage.
With only fifteen minutes remaining a sucker punch break away try, the second for Mikey Williams, proved to be the decisive blow against a tiring St Clears side and with their heads dropping, the visitors were not able to provide any further resistance to a rampant dominant back division who ran in six tries in the final ten minutes to produce a wildy unrealistic final score.
