A fixture between two sides in the wrong half of the division with much to prove, was the backdrop to this return fixture in Pembroke and only penalties from the visitor's full back Chris Rodenhurst were the difference after fifteen minutes of an evenly fought contest. Two sequential yellow cards effectively reduced Saint Clears to fourteen men for twenty minutes leading up to half time and during that period Quins number ten scored a try, well converted into a very strong headwind , producing a half time score of seven points to six.
In a number of similar circumstances this year , although holding their own and playing reasonably well, this situation would have ultimately resulted in a resounding defeat for Saints and with the prospect of turning round to face a very strong wind, the worst was anticipated but this was not to be , indeed St Clears raised their game and almost scored when centre Liam Price was stopped only metres short of the line following an impressive run which, following a penalty awarded for a high tackle resulted in an excellent try in the corner from winger Steffan Lewis.
Further pressure from the forwards resulted in a penalty try converted by Chris Rodenhurst. Further tries from Daffyd Walters and Daniel Jones (DJ) converted by Rodenhurst and Liam Price producing a convincing and thoroughly deserved victory of 32 points to 7.
