Having secured our first win v Tycroes on the 9th Sept we travelled to Lampeter on the 16th Sept for our 3rd league fixture determined to pick up some points and to avenge those defeats last season still fresh in the memory against a team promoted with us last year. The game as is always the case with fixtures v Lampeter, was a tough contest and one the Saints started well and playing up hill in the first half got off to a better start. The game proved to be a battle of defences with our tries coming from Dafydd Waters and Brandon Davies. Dan Griffiths converted 2 tries and slotted two penalties to ensure we secured a confidence boosting win against a strong outfit whom are a tough nut to crack. Final score Lampeter 14 - 20 St Clears.

 

WIth a week off (Bye in the cup) we welcomed top of the table Fishguard having won 3 from 3 to Parc Griffith Jones on the 30th Septemeber. Determined to back up the win at Lampeter in what was an afternoon hampered by the weather conditions. Our pack played well and set piece secured a strong platform for a controlled game in tough conditions. The saints led 14 - o at the break with a try from Dafydd Waters and 3 penalties from the reliable boot of Dan Griffiths who followed up with a penalty in the second half. A defensive effort by the boys and delivered a home win and putting us in a good position after the first month of fixtures. We are next in action on the 14th October away to Carmarthen Athletic followed by a home game v Nantgaredig on the 21st October. Tenby awaits in the next round of the WRU cup at home the following week.

 

Our development 15 played their first game at Newcastle Emlyn in the Llanelli & Disrtict league on the 30th Sept putting in a gutsy performance loosing 29 - 10. Our youth are 3 games into their campaign with a loss, a draw and an excellent game v Llangennech on the `Sept only to loose out at the death 33 - 35. That win is around the corner and keep up the good work.
