Away to Loughor 26/01/2019

A filthy day with torrential rain and storm force winds and a ten minute delay thanks to traffic issues wasn’t the best start to the match and it got worse after ten minutes when Loughor were awarded a penalty directly in front of the posts which was despatched with ease to give the home side the lead, when Saints had looked the better side, almost scoring themselves when Matthew Swann was adjudged to be second to the ball in a chase for the touchdown.

Rhodri Jones was unlucky to miss out on two difficult penalty kicks not helped by the blustery conditions, but very little else to report on in a dire first half, not helped by some dubious refereeing decisions, leaving the score at three points t o nil at the break.

Immediately after the restart the second half produced a repeat of the first half with another easy penalty dead in front to edge Loughor a further three points ahead  and ten minutes later yet another penalty, slightly more difficult this time, increased their lead to nine points.

Despite enjoying more possession Saints were unable to convert this advantage to exert real pressure on the home side’s defensive line and in a rare offensive period pressuring Saints defence, Loughor scored the decisive try thanks to their forwards and with a good conversion produced what proved to be the final score of 16 points to nil.
